A 9 day trekking campaign in Spiti Valley where one gets a chance to witness and explore the vagaries of nature from up close. Trekking expedition in Spiti Valley will fill you up with happiness and excitement giving you a blissful escape from your mundane life.

A taxi will pick up from Manali, and take you through the Rohtang Pass( 13, 200 ft). You are allowed a brilliant perspective of the Hanuman Tibba and the twin peaks of the Geyphang. From here, you will Leave for Kunzum ­La (4551m) and enter the Spiti valley via Kunzum ­La (4551m). Move up the Gete Village (4400m) while exploring the Shilla stream and Shilla Peak. 

Discover the astonishing magnificence at Langza, Hikkim and Kumik.

Trek through a dry Gorge To Lalun village, then visit the Sherkhang cloister and Dhankar religious community. The Dhankar Lake makes for an interesting detour.

Continue heading to the Pin valley and climb to the Kungri Gompa. The trek ends with a return journey to Manali.

Trekking Expedition in Spiti Valley Itinerary

Day 1Manali to Chandratal

  • Commence your trip by driving for about 5-6 hours over Rohtang Pass (13,200ft), and taking in the view of the mountain ranges backed by lush, green forests.One has a view of the Hanuman Tibba and the twin peaks of the Geylang.

  • Overnight campside stay at the Chandratal Lake.

Day 2Chandratal-Kunzum ­La-Losar-Kibber 

  • Post breakfast, you will leave for Kunzum ­La (4551m) and enter the first of the many villages in Spiti- Losar (4079). This is followed by Kibber  (4205m) .

Day 3Kibber - Langza

  • A trek to Gete (4400m), amidst alpine pastures. The climb takes around one hour.

  • Spiti is a living museum for geologists. The Shilla river is serene and beautiful, while the Shilla peak inspires awe.

  • Continue to trek till you reach the village of Langza.

  • Camp near the village and then visit the Langza monastery situated above.

  • Overnight stay at Langza.

Day 4Langza- Kumik

  • Discover Langza, Hikkim and Kumik. These three villages are situated at an altitude of 4400m – 4600m. It is a quick walk to Hikkim, the terrain being easy to traverse by foot.

  • Visit Tangyut monastery situated above Kumik. The ruins of the Tangyut monastery can be witnessed near Hikkim. 

  • Overnight stay near the village.

Day 5Kumik - Dumal

  • Gradual ascent to Kaugme.

  • Continue on the trail that leads you to Dumal, situated on the Lingti Valley. The Lingti Valley is 60 kilometres in length. After that there is an overnight stay at Dumal.

Day 6Dumal- Lalung

  • On day 6, you will trek via the steep zigzag until you arrive at a small bridge and cross it and walk along the right bank of Lingti River. You need to cross a bridge on the Lingti River and then stroll via the dry Gorge to Lalun village.

  • Visit the Sherkhang monastery, which is 1000 years old.

Day 7Lalung - Dhankar - Dhankar Lake

  • On this day, the trek will be a comfortable walk towards the Dhankar monastery via alpine meadows. You will visit the Queen’s palace and the Dhankar monastery. Dhankar traditionally was the old capital of the Spiti Valley. The Dhankar Lake is at a distance of 45 minutes from the area. The Tabo Gompa, famous for its marvelous murals and stucco images and is often called ” The Ajanta of Himalayas where you will Camp near the lake.

Day 8Tabo - Pin valley

  • The Tabo caves are a treasure trove of old etchings and Thangka paintings, that serve as testimony to the rich Buddhist history of the area. Drive to Pin valley where you can visit the Kungri Gompha- an old monastery which serves as a Buddhist school and is home to many monks. 

  • Overnight stay at a camp.

Day 9Pin Valley - Manali

  • The drive back to Manali takes between 7 and 8 hours.

  • Cost of any optional activity like paragliding, rafting, angling, etc.


Trekking Expedition in Spiti Valley: Booking Confirmation Policy

  • The customer receives a confirmation voucher via email within 6 hours of successful booking. Yes, we are fast and we like it that way.
  • In case the preferred slots are unavailable, we will call you for alternate tours or refund you the money in your bank account (if you don’t want to book with us, that’s fine – heartbreaks are difficult but life is not fair 🙁 )

Trekking Expedition in Spiti Valley: Cancellation Policy

  • If cancellations are made 15 days before the start date of the trip, 0% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
  • If cancellations are made within 7-15 days before the start date of the trip, 0% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
  • If cancellations are made within 0-7 days before the start date of the trip, 0% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
  • Cancellations are strictly subjected to cancellation policies mentioned on the website and we are sad to let you go and only wish you will come back to have a great journey with us.
  • In case of unforeseen weather conditions or government restrictions, we will refund you the money to 90%. We can also arrange for alternate arrangements for you, if you still love us, of course.

Trekking Expedition in Spiti Valley: Refund Policy

  • The applicable refund amount will be processed within 3 business days
  • All applicable refunds will be done in the traveller’s account by original payment mode i.e in your bank account. We don’t believe in refunding your amount and calling it “xyz cash”, we refund you in your bank account using your money wisely!
