Spiti Valley allows us to explore the natural beauty of the place which is covered with crystal snows as well as greenery and barren lands. From Manali, take a taxi or a private bus through Rohtang Pass (13,200 ft.) and enjoy the splendid view of the Hanuman Tibba and the twin peaks of Gyephang. Trekking And Camping in Spiti Valley will fill you up with happiness and excitement giving you a blissful escape from your mundane life.

 The next day, head towards Kunzum and enjoy the amazing Spiti valley Kunzum which is at the height of 4551m. The next activity is climbing up to the Gete Village (4400m) while exploring the incredible Shilla River and Shilla Peak. Enjoy the amazing beauty of Langza, Hikkim and Kumik there, after which you will go to Kaugme and Dumal located at Lingti Valley.

Walk through a dry Gorge to Lalun village, and appreciate the magnificent Sherkhang monastery and Dhankar monastery.  You can also explore Dhankar Lake there. The next destination is Pin valley, a drive with amazing views and then moving up to Kungri Gompa. The trip ends with a 7 to 8 hours driving journey back to Manali. 

Trekking And Camping in Spiti Valley Itinerary

Day 1Driving through Rohtang Pass and Camping at Chandratal Lake

  • The journey starts with driving for about 5-6 hours through Rohtang Pass (13,200ft) watershed between the monsoon forest ranges and the high arid lands.
  • Get sceneries of the twin peaks of Geyphang on the north side and Hanuman Tibba on the Kullu side of the mountain.  
  • Then arrive at Chandratal Lake (Moon Lake) and camp there overnight.

Day 2Chandratal - Kibber

  • The next morning after a delicious breakfast head towards Kunzum (4551m) and enter the first village of Spiti which is Losar (4079m) and then Kibber village (4205m).
  • Camp overnight at the village.

Day 3Kibber - Langza

  • A gradual ascent through a small plateau and meadow of alpine, then a short trek to Gete Village (4400m).
  • Climb up for 1 hour; you will get to see some fossils on the way. Spiti is also considered a living museum by geologists.
  • After crossing the Shilla river, you will ascend towards Langza village.
  • Enjoy the marvellous view of Shilla Peak and camp near the village.
  • Visit the Langza monastery situated above the village.
  • Overnight stay at Langza.

Day 4Langza- Kumik

  • Explore the three villages– Langza, Hikkim and Kumik which are at an altitude of 4400m- 4600m. It is the best route to see the fossils. The walk towards Hikkim is the easy one but a horizontal walk to Kumik is the difficult one.
  • Above Kumik there is Tangyut monastery. A 1975 earthquake had almost destroyed the monastery. The ruins of this monastery can be seen near Hikkim.
  • Overnight stay near the village.

Day 5Kumik - Dumal

  • The next day, climb a gradual ascent to Kaugme.
  • Continuing on the trail will lead you to Dumal which is situated at the Lingti Valley. Appreciate the amazing view of the valley, which is 60kms long to the north. 
  • Arrangements of an overnight stay at Dumal will be made.

Day 6Dumal- Lalun

  • Next morning you will descend through a serpentine steep road until you reach a small bridge, cross the bridge and walk along the right bank of Lingti River. 
  • Continue walking through the dry Gorge to Lalun village.
  •  Visit the 1000 years old Sherkhang monastery there.
  •  Later, a camp near the monastery will be arranged.

Day 7Lalung - Dhankar - Dhankar Lake

  • The next morning trek will be an easy one towards Dhankar monastery through alpine meadows. You should visit the Dhankar monastery and the Queen’s palace. Dhankar was the old capital of Spiti Valley. Many young and old monks receive religious training here.
  • Next, a less than one-hour gradual ascent towards the Dhankar Lake. This place is famous for the Disciple and teacher Rinchentsangin 9, 96 A.
  • Camping near the lake will be arranged.

Day 8Tabo - Pin valley

  • The next morning starts with a short walk towards the oldest caves on barren mountains of Tabo. Inside you can see Lamas meditating and the Thangka paintings, one of the most precious paintings of Buddhism. 
  • After that, a drive to the abundantly green Pin valley of Spiti.
  •  The journey continues to the old Monastery of Spiti which is Kungri Gompa. This place is again full of Buddhist schools and monks.
  • Overnight stay at the camp.

Day 9Pin Valley - Manali

  • On the last day, you will be driven back to Manali by road which will take 7-8 hours and your journey ends there.

  • The customer receives a confirmation voucher via email within 6 hours of successful booking. Yes, we are fast and we like it that way.
  • In case the preferred slots are unavailable, we will call you for alternate tours or refund you the money in your bank account (if you don’t want to book with us, that’s fine – heartbreaks are difficult but life is not fair 🙁 )

Trekking And Camping in Spiti Valley: Cancellation Policy

  • If cancellations are made 15 days before the start date of the trip, 0% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
  • If cancellations are made within 7-15 days before the start date of the trip, 0% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
  • If cancellations are made within 0-7 days before the start date of the trip, 0% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
  • Cancellations are strictly subjected to cancellation policies mentioned on the website and we are sad to let you go and only wish you will come back to have a great journey with us.
  • In case of unforeseen weather conditions or government restrictions, we will refund you the money to 90%. We can also arrange for alternate arrangements for you, if you still love us, of course.

  • The applicable refund amount will be processed within 3 business days
  • All applicable refunds will be done in the traveller’s account by original payment mode i.e in your bank account. We don’t believe in refunding your amount and calling it “xyz cash”, we refund you in your bank account using your money wisely!
