It is situated in the northernmost part of Goa, Candolim is the epitome of the perfect beach to visit. This resort is located very close to the beaches, giving you a clear view of the golden sands and the sea.

Things to do in Candolim Beach

“I would recommend people coming to Goa to do something offbeat now.

1. Rent a bike and travel through the tiny lanes of Goa, explore the Goan farms. Take the road to Aldona, which is lined up with coconut trees on both sides. Try staying in Villas and homestays, rather than hotels.

2. Stay away from the crowded beaches. Instead, visit beaches like Velsao or Sernabatim in South Goa. Do not litter these Beaches. These beaches are clean only because not many people visit these Beaches.

3. Try out a private backwater cruising option in the hinterlands of Goa. Since I am the manager at Rediscovery Cruises, I happen to take these rides quite often. The Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary is just the opposite, and I have spotted a lot of migratory birds as well as crocodiles. My customers go back happy and amazed, as they have missed out on these options all their life.

4. Try out the thrilling treks, like Netravali, Maynapi, if you plan a trip to Goa in the rains. There are difficulty levels here. Try choosing the easier one if it’s the first time you are going trekking.

5. Visit the forts of Goa. The Reis Magos and Terekhol especially. They give you an amazing view of the waters. Also, you get to see a lot of Goan history in them.

6. Take a walk through the Fontainhas in Panjim. These lanes are filled with brightly colored Goan houses, built during the Portuguese era. They reflect Portuguese architecture.

7. Try eating in small places, rather than visiting big fancy restaurants. Try out Kinara in Chimbel, or Sharada in Bambolim, Darya in Ponda, Anandashram in Panjim, or Vasco. These are places that serve Goan food retaining its original taste.

8. Last but not least visit churches like Mae De Deus in Saligao, St.Bartholomews Church in Chorao, Three Kings Church in Cansaulim. These churches are magnificent and as beautiful as the Old Goa churches.

December is the time when Goa witnesses one of its most popular festivals, Sunburn, besides extensive Christmas and New Year celebrations and is home to lakhs of visitors from across the world. But at the same time there is a huge amount of rush and the famous beaches in North Goa like Candolim, Calangute and Baga have entry tickets between 23rd December to 1st January.

You might want to book your hotels in advance since this is the peak season and prices of accommodation go way higher than you would imagine. January marks the time of Russian New year chances are high to find loads of Russian tourists there and places celebrating Russian New year.

During February carnival is held in Goa every year and the city is very much decorated(glimpses shown in Movie Josh). Hence, note down the exact dates and get your bookings done if you are willing to watch and enjoy the Goa Carnival. It’s a three-day celebration.

March to May: This is the season when the temperature rises, the sea becomes rougher and the weather turns hot and humid. Not many people visit Goa between March and May since there are not many activities to indulge in.

However, the prices of hotels and homestay become way too reasonable in case you want to visit Goa for a three-to-four day break with your beloved, looking for peace and calm.

Mid-June to October: Mid-June to October is the time when the rains hit the beautiful Goa. There are parties across the length and breadth of Goa to welcome the rains. If you love the monsoon and the lush green countryside.

But at the same time, many beach shacks will be closed and water sports aren’t an option to enjoy. But on the brighter side, the hotel and ticket rates are very cheap.
